It’s another day at a California college and thus another example of the rise of the New Fascists on campus.

This time the tyranny is courtesy of Professor Alicia Chávez at the University of Southern California who demanded students to refrain from using the term “illegal immigrant” when writing the essay for their final exam. An anonymous student provided the e-mail reminder sent out by teachers assistant Jolie Chea to The College Fix:

“Hi everyone, one last message from me this semester: On your final exams, please refrain from using the term ‘illegal immigrant’ to refer to human beings — as Professor Chavez has requested (or mandated). Instead, please use ‘undocumented immigrant’ or ‘unauthorized entry’ to describe folks’ status or how they may have arrived in the U.S.”

It seems the professor needed the safe space this time more than her students.

Here was the essay prompt as provided by the same student who was afraid revealing her identity could result in a bad grade:

Historically, the North American West has been imagined as a geography of leisure, opportunity, entertainment, and wealth, and also as a place where people of color could live outside of the structures of inequality. However, by 1992, Los Angeles became associated with severe racial and class conflict. How would you characterize the nature of lived experience in the West by the late 19th through the early 21st century? Is it a region that has maintained long-held hierarchies of inequality that continue to circumscribe people’s lives? Is it a region that has opened new opportunities for persons or communities that could not find them in other places?

Wow, talk about leading the witness.

The student also told The Fix that “the entire class has been anti-American values, anti-Constitution, anti-Declaration of Independence, anti-Bible, anti-Trump” and so, wasn’t surprised at all by the request to strike the “offensive” term from their essay terminology.

“The entire class is, ‘How can we make things more equal,’” the student added. “They peddle this socialist sort of economic idea when they look at equality in the United States, and they peddle it through race.”

Professor Chávez had inserted her ire for America in her class before, once in a 2015 lecture when she told her class the Founding Fathers don’t deserve any praise whatsoever.

And this is the education our future leaders are getting. Good luck, America.
