Well, this is super creepy: Democratic candidate Scott Wallace, who is running against incumbent Republican representative Brian Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania’s toss-up 1st Congressional District, is distributing door hangers in the area that oddly inform voters that “who you vote for is private, but whether or not you vote is public record” and adding that the campaign “can’t wait to see that you voted on November 6!” George Orwell, much? Here’s a photo of the door hanging that a Twitter user named Albert Eisenberg posted. Also this Scott Wallace door hanger is Orwellian and creepy pic.twitter.com/rKbs5JzZ24 — Albert Eisenberg (@Albydelphia) November 4, 2018 Eisenberg verified with photos that “Scott Wallace for Congress,” Wallace’s campaign committee is printed on the backside and bottom of the hangers. Yes, sadly, these are official. And officially disturbing. The Free Beacon notes: Whether individuals vote is obtainable public information. The Free Beacon previously obtained Wallace’s voting history record in the district that shows Wallace did not register to vote in Bucks County, Pa.—where he is from—until Dec. 31, 2017, and did not cast his first vote in the district until May 15, the day of the Democratic primaries. Wallace moved away from the district decades ago and has maintained a home in Maryland while living in South Africa running his family foundation, the Wallace Global Fund, before moving back to challenge Fitzpatrick. Well, well, well. Here’s the thing. Voting in America is a poignant, important moment for all citizens. But candidates should not use propaganda that insinuates Americans will face consequences if they don’t. At the very least, Pennsylvania voters should be suspicious of a candidate who has such a loose grasp of basic American values.
