The War on Women’s Sports

Texas governor Greg Abbott banned last week biological males–a.k.a., “transgender women”–in public schools from competing in girl’s sports. 

Needless to say, the radical Left is absolutely furious.

Despite the fact that Abbott’s decision is firmly grounded in common sense, opponents want us to believe that his efforts to reserve women’s sports for, well, women, are unbelievably cruel and discriminatory. 

White House spokesperson Ike Hajinazarian, for instance, insisted that this “hateful” new law is “nothing more than bullying disguised as legislation.”

But why? Since when did preventing biological boys from playing on the girl’s team become so offensive to the self-proclaimed champions of equality?

Of course, when I say “biological males,” I’m really supposed to say “transgender women.” I’m supposed to overlook the science of the issue and just pretend that a boy should be allowed to compete in women’s sports simply because he feels like it.

Not even ten years ago, the concept certainly would have seemed absurd. Today, however, the issue is pervasive.

There are the obvious, high-profile examples, such as MMA Fighter Fallon Fox – a biological male who was celebrated for breaking the skull of his female competitor (as if it were an honorable accomplishment) – and Rachel McKinnon – a man who came in first place at the UCI Women’s Masters Track World Championship.

Besides these incidents in professional sports, there are also dozens of similar stories in schools around America. Between 2017-2019, in Connecticut, for example, “two boys… won 15 women’s [high school] track championship titles.” In addition, another biological boy was permitted to beat girls in a high school championship in Alaska, while a male student won multiple Northeast-10 Conference titles in women’s track.

Sadly, these are just a few of many examples.

This is an ever growing problem, and to the average American, it doesn’t seem even remotely fair that biological males should be allowed to steal championships and victories from those to whom they rightfully belong.

The Left continues to defend this blatant inequality, hiding behind the unscientific excuse that men who call themselves women really are women. Therefore, according to their logic, it’s actually unfair to bar these trasgender athletes from competing against their preferred sex.

But even if, for the sake of the argument, we accepted that men who were born as men could actually transition to the opposite sex, studies show that these so-called “trasgender women” still maintain their biological advantages over other women.

It’s no surprise, of course. Men have greater muscle mass and stronger hearts than women do, and simply “changing one’s identity” can not change that reality. Multiple studies confirm that – contrary to popular theory – not even testosterone suppression can mitigate these differences.

In fact, it’s so obvious that even a few supporters of transgenderism have acknowledged the inequalities of expecting biological males to compete against women.

One author for Science for Sport, who admits he is “all for having the right to do what you want with your body, and [has] no problem with anyone who wants to transition from male to female,” made a science-based case against transgender women participating in female sports, ultimately concluding that “the solution is to compete based on the sex you were born. If you were born a male, then you must compete in the male division.”

A prominent science magazine similarly recognized that “where to draw the line between inclusiveness for transgender athletes and fairness for cis ones is an ethical question that ultimately requires value judgements that can only be informed, not decided, by science.”

Both of these sources, despite arguing that biological men legitimately can become women, have enough common sense to at least acknowledge that a gaping dichotomy of performance between transgender athletes and other competitors still does exist.

This raises an important question; if even transgenderism proponents can acknowledge this fact, then why is it “hateful” and “bullying” to enforce it?

The Left wants us to believe that barring boys from competing in girl’s sports is legalized bigotry; in reality, it’s just science-based common sense. Expecting female athletes to compete against biological males, on the other hand, is, in fact, nothing short of inequality, and the Left can do absolutely nothing to change that. 

That’s why, for the sake of every female athlete who is suffering under this insanity, it’s time for every state to stand up and follow Texas’ example.
