Some people might not like it that I call COVID-19, the Wuhan Flu.’
They might say it’s small minded. Xenophobic.
My explanation is always the same. I don’t hate Chinese people. I love Asian Americans. But the Communist Chinese government has blood on its hands, and we can no longer afford to ignore their murderous deception. We must hold them accountable, and I’m not going to delicately dance around the name of the disease they knowingly unleashed on an innocent world.
That’s why I was surprised to see comedian Bill Maher speaking out on this very topic.
Who would’ve guessed: he agrees with me.
“So when someone says, ‘what if people hear Chinese virus and blame China?’ The answer is we should blame China. We can’t afford the luxury anymore of non-judginess towards a country w/habits that kill millions of people,” he said.
Exactly. He also went through several examples of how we frequently named diseases after their place of origin… including Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, the Spanish Flu, and – I didn’t know this – Lyme Disease.
This is not the time to be politically correct.
This is a time to fight back.
