Seriously…does anyone, on either side of the aisle believe it when Nancy Pelosi says:

“The cupboard is bare. There’s no more cuts to make. It’s really important that people understand that.”
How can any politician get away with a lie like this?  The reality is that the federal budget has doubled in twelve years, from $1.9 trillion in 2001 to $3.8 trillion this year.  If the CEO of a publicly traded company made this type of statement upon which shareholders might rely, they would probably be liable for fraud.  When voters rely upon this sort of statement, the best we can hope is that they vote the fraudsters out of office.
But someone ought to hold them fiscally responsible…really.
