Embed from Getty Images Liberals are in a panic after the stunning defeat of Hillary Clinton and they’re wandering aimlessly in the streets protesting their worst nightmare: President-elect Donald Trump. Californians have taken this news especially hard and are so forlorn that they’re actually calling for the state to secede from the Union. The movement is gathering steam on Twitter and has adopted a similar moniker as Britain’s exit from the European Union known as Brexit. They’re calling it Calexit. Everyone from celebrities to Silicon Valley elites and everyone in between is talking secession: I 100% support this!!! Californian independence!!!!! https://t.co/BREGvCsst5 #Calexit — Perez (@ThePerezHilton) November 9, 2016 Seriously. What are the steps to make this possible??? We must secede!! #Calexit — Perez (@ThePerezHilton) November 9, 2016 1/ If Trump wins I am announcing and funding a legitimate campaign for California to become its own nation. — Shervin (@shervin) November 9, 2016 So #Calexit is a thing right? I am a million times down for that. — Sam Bell (@sarcasticsoresu) November 9, 2016 Again, California’s votes didn't matter in a US presidential election. Why should we continue to be part of this Union? #Calexit — Yes California (@YesCalifornia) November 9, 2016 I hate to burst these liberals’ bubble, but secession is not the answer. They are so busy running around like emotional chickens with their heads cut off that they fail to see that a power provided for by the Constitution is right in front of them. It’s called an Article V Convention of States. Through a Convention of States, the electorate is no longer powerless or indentured to a candidate that doesn’t share their ideas. If the federal government is abusing its power, a CoS is the key to stopping it. Instead of the control center being in Washington D.C., the people would be the ones wielding the authority and directing policies. And it’s all there in the Constitution. So, California and any liberal upset by Tuesday’s election: if you want to ensure that the Washington elite aren’t trampling your rights, it’s your duty to look into what a Convention of States could mean for you.
