Former Senator Tom Coburn appeared on CNN’s New Day to explain clearly and succinctly what most Americans think is wrong with our country, and what should be done about it.
Appearing a day before the Republican debates would be hosted on CNN, he was sure to get questions about the candidates. Coburn explained one reason why he’s not energized by the campaigns so far — because most of the candidates are not talking about the real issues. “They’re wanting to get elected more than they’re wanting to fix the problems,” he said.
The only thing that will fix the real problems at this point is a Convention of States. The problems are much more systemic than a new executive leader. For one example, Coburn said, “Bureaucracies write most of the laws in this country, and they’re never held accountable by our elected representatives. That needs to change!”
