Hours after comedian Rickey Gervais skewered A-List celebrities at the Golden Globes for being out-of-touch, hypocritical, immoral elites, they went and proved he was right. A-List fashion designer Stella McCartney tweeted praise and adoration over a decision her friend – actor Joaquin Phoenix – made about his award show attire: “This man is a winner… wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet. He has also chosen to wear this same Tux for the entire award season to reduce waste. I am proud to join forces with you… x Stella” This man is a winner… wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet. How tone-deaf are these Hollywood types to celebrate that a guy is re-wearing the same tux? Here’s my confession: I wear all my clothes more than once. Does that make me an environmentalist hero? Should I expect Green Peace to be calling any minute? Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean called McCartney out for this lunacy: “My husband and his coworkers wear the same firefighter outfit when they go into burning buildings to try to save people. But yeah, good for you Joaquin and Stella,” she tweeted. Later, she added, “I’m sorry this tweet is exactly what @rickygervais was trying to say the other night at the #GoldenGlobes Get over yourself, Hollywood. There are real people doing more to save humans than you are.” Yep. Our heroes used to storm the beaches of Normandy. But I guess this is “brave” too.
