Vegan Restaurant Which Charged Men More Than Women Shuts Its Doors

“Handsome Her” is a vegan restaurant in Melbourne area of Australia that became notorious for charging men more for the same food, donating the excess to a women’s charity. The restaurant had a chalked sign outside the door which enumerated their “house rules.”

Rule #1: women have priority seating. 

Rule #2: men will be charged an 18% premium to reflect the gender pay gap (2016) which is donated to a women’s service. 

Rule #3 respect goes both ways.

Got that?  They charged 18% more for their male customers, in an effort for “equality.” That’s definitionally impossible, but social justice warriors have always used “fuzzy math.”

Handsome Her owners explained one of the reasons they wanted to charge more for men donating the “extra” to feminist organizations.  They “strived to bring lesbianism back into fashion.”  

Recently, however, they announced they were closing their doors because the two female owners are going on to do other things.  The Daily Wire reports, “There is no indication that the restaurant is closing as a result of charging men more than women – a policy that was implemented back when the restaurant opened and only applied one week a month.”

However, one has to assume that men were not voluntarily going there in droves to be discriminated against.  You see – here’s a life tip – discrimination is bad, no matter who is doing it.

“While it is a shame to lose the physical space (and we understand how essential it is for women and lesbians to hold space), we leave knowing that the communities we have made transcend the trendy vegan café on Sydney Rd, Brunswick. We look forward to continuing Handsome Her in a variety of other, more creative ways and expanding our efforts to drive change with flexibility and mobility throughout Australia.”
