As you have undoubtedly heard, Georgia has a new law prohibiting abortion when babies have a detectable heartbeat. In response, the streaming service Netflix announced that it will work with the ACLU to fight the law and might “rethink” filming in that state if the law goes into effect.
“We have many women working on productions in Georgia, whose rights, along with millions of others, will be severely restricted by this law,” Netflix’s chief content creator Ted Sarandos told Variety. “It’s why we will work with the ACLU and others to fight it in court. Should it ever come into effect, we’d rethink our entire investment in Georgia.”
This, of course, is a warning shot to all of Netflix’s conservative customers. When they heard Sarandos’s comments, they struck back. After all, Americans have many many streaming options and don’t have to be wed to a company which openly despises their values.

Others chimed in as well, including Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen. He tweeted, “Hey .@netflix nearly half the country is pro-life,” Thiessen tweeted. “Don’t alienate your pro-life customers. We have lots of streaming options these days.”
Exactly. If companies choose to pick sides in the social wars, they should expect some financial consequences. Customers have options, and conservatives are sick and tired of being taken for granted, mocked, and maligned.
