Actor Matthew McConaughey appeared on comedian Russell Brand’s podcast, “Under the Skin” and attacked the hypocrisy in Hollywood as they mock Trump supporters for refusing to accept Joe Biden’s Presidential victory.

The actor, who described himself as “aggressively centrist,” remembers the left’s fallout after Trump’s 2016 victory. “I’m sure you saw it in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that was real,” McConaughey said. “Some of them were in absolute denial.”

The actor lamented the vast divide between the two political parties and attacked how the “party of tolerance” is so hateful towards the other half of the country. “There are a lot of people on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize and are arrogant toward the other 50 percent,” he said.

McConaughey received significant backlash from woke Twitter users.

“It absolutely shatters my heart, and I know it shatters yours too. But it might be the time to face the bitter truth that Matthew McConaughey is dumb as dogs—,” tweeted writer Bill Corbett.

“You should have kept your idiotic views to yourself about the election. Now you not only lost most of the viewers you had left, but now Lincoln will lose sales because of your stupidity. I was done with you years ago, this just made me delete every movie I ever had with you in it,” tweeted another.

Others came to his defense.

Singer/songwriter Aisha tweeted in defense of the actor, “Matthew McConaughey And Russell Brand are right. I’ve seen it firsthand. Hollywood claims to be so liberal and tolerant but is full of hateful, cruel, mean spirited, vengeful lunatics. They are a disgrace. They insanely attack & try to destroy anyone who doesn’t agree with them,” she wrote.

“I absolutely love the description ‘aggressively centrist.’  This is a man who is not only sexy, smart and talented, he is also decent and grounded in common sense,” tweeted one user.

If anything, the backlash McConaughey is receiving is driving his point home. The left should stop painting themselves as progressive and tolerant while viciously attacking anyone with opposing views.
