It seems strange that Democratic lawmakers are threatening to shut down the government when they knew the kind of immigration reform that is coming down the pike. It’s not like President Trump has hidden his plans for the country. Of course, that won’t stop them from complaining about it.

Trump ran on building the wall on our southern border and that’s what he aims to do. Attorney General Jeff Sessions made the rounds on the Sunday news shows reaffirming that fact and telling Democrats to back off the threat.

“I can’t imagine the Democrats would shut down the government over an objection to building a down payment on a wall that can end the lawlessness,” Sessions said on ABC’s This Week. Sessions reminded George Stephanopoulos that a wall is what America wants and they expect Congress to fully deliver.

Echoing those sentiments was Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly who said on CNN’s State of the Union, “I think it goes without saying that the president has been pretty straightforward about his desire and the need for a border wall.”

Sure, there are a few Republicans who are against it, but its highly unlikely they’re going to side with Democrats in a government shutdown. They would probably never recover politically if they did. So, with the majority of the power in the GOP’s hands, wall construction is around the corner. The opposing Democrats are simply throwing a temper tantrum and in doing so are digging their own graves.

The President keeps on keeping his promises. What a concept, right? But it’s driving the Left crazy. Democrats seem to forget that they lost an election. Several, in fact. What they need to realize is that like Trump, voters were clear that they want massive immigration reform and a wall to keep out criminals. And if Democrats like their jobs, they better get on board and give American citizens what they asked for.
