Children in the Chicago Public Schools system are now required to use preferred gender pronouns when talking to transgender students and staff. If they don’t, they will be punished.

New guidelines have been issued on all city campuses demanding compliance for all students and warns those who refuse that they will be in violation of Title IX discrimination and sexual harassment policies. “Appropriate consequences” will be handed out to non-compliant students and staff.

Preferred Gender Pronouns (PGP) have gained traction over the last few years on social media. They include ze, sie, e, ou and ve in place of the common he, she, they, you, we, etc. Students and staff that don’t identify with their actual gender will choose their PGP and the other students and staff will be required to use that term. Unintended usage of the person’s actual gender will go unpunished, but any “intentional or persistent” usage will bring consequences.

From the CPS press release:

“The guidelines released today will help ensure every student and adult in the CPS family can participate in an environment of complete tolerance and respect,” said CPS Chief Education Officer Dr. Janice K. Jackson. “CPS, like much of the country, has become far more aware of the needs and experiences of the transgender community, and it’s crucial for CPS guidelines to reflect our commitment to promoting safe and inclusive schools. These guidelines build on our commitment to fostering healthy and supportive learning opportunities across the District so that each of our students can reach their full potential.”

As part of this overhaul, CPS employees don’t have to tell parents if their child assumes another gender while at school unless given permission to do so — by the CHILD:

[W]hen speaking with other staff members, parents, guardians, or third parties, school staff should not disclose a student’s preferred name, pronoun, or other confidential information pertaining to the student’s transgender or gender nonconforming status without the student’s permission, unless authorized to do so by the Law Department.

Here’s the bottom line: the CPS wants to make sure that gender non-conforming youth are able to live as the gendered person they identify with. And without exception, others who have a particular political or religious identity at odds with such a policy, are overruled.

How can a school system claim to be supportive of all its students when it is blatantly forcing the vast majority to bow to the minority, or else?

What’s worse, CPS has behind it the full blessing and authority of the Obama administration which has just decreed that every public school in the nation must provide transgender access in every facility or else face the loss of federal funding.

Isn’t it strange that in Obama’s America, putting an end to discrimination means discriminating against others?

    The formation of identity, Gender and otherwise, is a PROCESS of the formative years. It’s NOT one that requires GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS to interfere in – it’s a process that happens naturally as a result of BONDS made by the child and the natural process of interacting with and emulating those with whom the child has bonded.

    Will a “tom-boy” – a girl who enjoys playing with her brothers in activities traditionally more attractive to boys – now be in danger of “funneled” into a track that prevents her from forming a feminine identity?

    I ask because I was that type of child! I liked fishing, crawdad hunting, playing cops and robbers, etc. I was considered a “tom-boy” as a child and had a lot of fun as a result. It didn’t impede the development of my identity as a girl!

    But in today’s hyper-reactive climate in all things gender-related, the same play-preferences are likely to provoke ENTIRELY UNCALLED FOR disruptions to a perfectly natural FORMATIVE process. What are we DOING ?? Can NOTHING be left to nature these days?

    If I still had kids in school, I would instruct them to call transgender kids by the name that fits them. “Little Faggot” Let them go cry to their faggot parents. My child would not be a part of your “Politically Stupid” Agenda
